STANDING BY A HOLE Frank was one of the fellas Just an ordinary guy He worked for the City, wasn’t that pretty He never stopped and wonder’d why His passion was for hockey and Tim Horton's coffee Giving piggy back rides to the kids He worked for the “Department of Public Entertainment” Digging holes, then fillin’ them in CHORUS: Standing by a hole, they’re standing by a hole It’s rain’ slightly, standing by a hole One foot resting, on the old banjo The whole crew, standing by a hole “Well you never give much thought, maybe I shoulda been a cop Riding around in a lotta chrome" But it wouldn’t feel as good, as good as it could Good as standing by a hole From the cradle to the grave from the mouthes of babes Kids love playin’ in the dirt It feels like a party, a real tailgate party And nobody ever gets hurt. CHORUS: Standing by a hole, they’re standing by a hole And it’s rain’ slightly, standing by a hole One foot resting, on the old banjo The whole crew, standing by a hole ( Instrumental verse ) CHORUS: Standing by a hole, they’re standing by a hole And it’s rain’ slightly, standing by a hole Windows rolled down, listening to the truck radio The whole crew, standing by a hole pye 22/02/17

WE'RE IN DEEP It’s ten o’clock in the morning Dog is barking, kids are fighting Didn’t get much sleep last night Account of I got woke up by the rain Nothin’ eases the pain like pancakes Pour a little maple syrup from the pail Step outside, and sniff the air Just another ordinary day Chorus: We’re in the deep We’re in deep We’re in the deep We were made from the deep She knows when to leave me And go and walk the dog I nod my head as they slip away Then I come up with this song Chorus: We’re in the deep We’re in deep We’re in the deep We were made from the deep It’s ten o’clock in the evening Dog is sleeping, kids are watching YouTube We made some noise through laughs and tears along the way Watched the Harvest Moon disappear Chorus: We’re in the deep We’re in deep We’re in the deep We were made from the deep (Instrumental verse) It’s ten o’clock in the morning Dog is barking, kids are fighting Didn’t get much sleep last night Account of I got woke up by the rain Chorus: We’re in the deep We’re in deep We’re in the deep We were made from the deep We were made from the deep We were made from the deep

Suga' Bush 04:12
SUGA ‘ BUSH Waking from a dream with you We were walking through the forest The river running past us Like it had seen the last of us In the dream it was dark Path right before us We were far away from kinda things That make people stay Chorus: Gonna sleep in a suga’ bush Gonna sleep in a suga’ bush Gonna sleep in a suga’ bush Tonight I heard the mournful sound Of a train running through the dark Clickity-clack of the wheels As it rolled past the park Knew they were homeward bound The engineer keeping time Passengers all asleep Their cozy dreams in line Chorus: Gonna sleep in a suga’ bush Gonna sleep in a suga’ bush Gonna sleep in a suga’ bush Tonight Tonight, tonight, tonight. I dreamed I was with you But couldn’t see your face It was dark And I didn’t know the place But it didn’t matter Cause it was alright Bears and mountain lions Swaying pines between, the moon was tight Chorus: Gonna sleep in a suga’ bush Gonna sleep in a suga’ bush Gonna sleep in a suga’ bush Tonight Tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight. pye 5/11/16 6:45am.

TEE-TOT’S BLUES (Hank Williams first guitar teacher) I used to walk the streets of Montgomery Lookin’ in the windows of the Five and Dime I used to walk the streets of Montgomery Back when it was my home town Heard the sound of the washboard On the streets of Montgomery Heard the scratchy fiddle and guitar Heard the lonesome sound of Tee-Tot’s Blues CHORUS: Tee-Tot’s got the blues down in Montgomery He’s playin’ from the sole of his shoes Tee-Tot’s got the blues down in Montgomery Morning sun leaves me so confused Live far away in Nashville Far from Montgomery When I go back I’m gonna look him up Think I’m gonna set him free We’ll play like kids on the washboard While the guitars strum the air Fiddle and the bow, calling all angels There’ll be no regrets, we’ll play some more CHORUS: Tee-Tot’s got the blues down in Montgomery He’s playin’ from the sole of his shoes Tee-Tot’s got the blues down in Montgomery Morning sun leaves me so confused ( Instrumental verse) So if you’re riding down some lost highway Like you’ve got no place to go Remember you’re a child from Montgomery And you’ll find your way home. pye 19/12/16

JUNE CARTER’S HANDS When you’re singing into the dark And there’s nobody at your feet And the band is playing a slow country waltz You could be anybody in this whole wide world CHORUS: I imagine that I’m Johnny, I imagine that I’m John I imagine that I’m Johnny, in June Carter’s hands When the light at the end of the tunnel Seems so far away The song that you’ve written, ain’t flow’in up the charts In fact it’s goin’ the other way CHORUS: I image that I’m Johnny, I imagine that I’m John I image I’m Johnny, in June Carter’s hands BRIDGE: Together again through thick and thin Together again at the end of the line Two hearts, that bind Two ends, that find When you’re singing into the dark And the crowds are at your feet The band is playing a slow country waltz You could be anybody in this whole wide world CHORUS: I image that I’m Johnny, I imagine that I’m John I image I’m Johnny, in June Carter’s hands BRIDGE: Together again through thick and thin Together again at the end of the line Two hearts, that bind Two ends, that find pye

WALKIN' ON THE SUNNYSIDE Been walkin’ on the sunny side Last few years or so Been workin’ some strong magic Easy come and easy go There were a lot of dark days My mind could find no end One day after the other Get up and do it again CHORUS: Walking on the Sunnyside Walking on the Sunnyside Walking on the Sunnyside Both side of the street (repeat 2X ) We were tearing up the concert halls Sending notes into the air Some came back return to sender Both sides of life There were a lot of dark days My mind could find no end One day after the other Get up and do it again CHORUS: Walking on the Sunnyside Walking on the Sunnyside Walking on the Sunnyside Both side of the street (repeat 2X ) BRIDGE: Both sides of life We’ve lived in both sides now Can’t have one without the other Both sides of life (Instrumental verse) CHORUS: Walking on the Sunnyside Walking on the Sunnyside Walking on the Sunnyside Both side of the street (repeat 2X ) BRIDGE: Both sides of life We’ve lived in both sides now Can’t have one without the other Both sides of life. pye

WE DON'T NEED A MILLION DOLLARS We don’t need a million dollars Sure could use a couple of hundred We don’t need a million dollars Sure could use a-couple hundred The rent is due and the mailman still brings the bills Like it was good ’ole yesterday Kids shoes are worn, but they gotta do ’Til we weather out this storm We don’t need a million dollars Sure could use a couple of hundred We don’t need a million dollars Sure could use a-couple hundred And I’m looking forward to some morning When I don’t have to look Bloody Mary in the eye And I trip over the gin bottle That I drunk the night before (instrumental verse) I used to work down at Stinko Bought myself a mortgage and a family car When the steel gates closed, they tossed me to the curb Don’t know how it ever got this far We don’t need a million dollars Sure could use a couple of hundred We don’t need a million dollars Sure could use a-couple hundred And I’m looking forward to some morning When I don’t have to look Bloody Mary in the eye And I trip over the gin bottle That I drunk the night before We don’t need a million dollars Sure could use a couple of hundred We don’t need a million dollars Sure could use a-couple hundred pye 16/03/16

KEEP YOUR LOVE STEADY He looked down, the empty bottle At the liquid, that wasn’t there He ordered himself another, got it from the frig With an empty stare He skipped the eggs and bacon The pancakes and maple syrup ‘Cause they moved away Then he lingered on a thought And prepared, to face the day Chorus: Nothin’s gonna save you From the grief you feel when you’re all alone Be your name Fred, or Freddie Keep your love steady, when they’re home He met her in the springtime When the sweet smell of apple blossoms - hung in the air They quickly caused a family - grew like Dandelions Then they blew, away They used to come home on weekends Time came, they hardly came at all When the Angels up and took her His whole world came Tumbling down Chorus: Nothin’s gonna save you From the grief you feel when you’re all alone Be your name Fred, or Freddie Keep your love steady, when they’re home (instrumental) Chorus: Nothin’s gonna save you From the grief you feel when you’re all alone Be your name Fred, or Freddie Keep your love steady, when they’re home So keep your love steady, Freddie All you got, is what you left at home. pye

SHIRLEY TEMPLE I need a pretend drink Why don't you try a Shirley Temple? I need a pretend man Why don't you try a Manhattan? A Shirley Temple is a little girl's drink Manhattan just another name for a hat rack Why don't we all stop pretending that we're not pretending. I wish the world was spinnin' slower Maybe I'd see things a little better Maybe I'd stop drinking And I'd stop pretending That you're ever coming back That our love's not a thing of the past And we're past pretending. Chorus: Better be here than be square Better try and be a better man Than someone who doesn't care You have your Shirley Temple I'll sit at the bar while you drink your pretend drink And I'll pretend that you really care. I need a pretend drink Why don't you try a Shirley Temple? I need a pretend man Why don't you try a Manhattan? A Shirley Temple is a little girl's drink Manhattan just another name for a hat rack Why don't we all stop pretending That we're not pretending. about

Hi,
I invite you to hear the new Americana Record, "Keep Your Love Steady". The record stays true to Pete's inspiration, Hank Williams and The Drifting Cowboys, that gets "the toes tapping and the heads nodding."

The sound is deceptively sparse with straight ahead arrangements, and recorded on vintage analog gear. This record was released in March 2019 everywhere.

The first "Single" off the record is called, "Suga' Bush" and is available now. Great news is that the first video is up on YouTube and climbing with growing number of hits!! Look for lyric video of Shirley Temple which got "Honourable Mention in American Songwriter Lyric Contest March / April issue." American Songwriter Magazine, 2019.
We hope you really enjoy it!!
